SIPP (Ships in Product Packaging)

SIPP (Ships in Product Packaging) is Amazon’s current name for the packaging certification previously called SIOC (Ships in Own Container): the same program with the same certification standards, renamed.

What it is

Amazon’s packaging program FAQ says the program was rebranded to Ships in Product Packaging “to better reflect the program’s objective,” and that “the packaging certification standards for SIPP are the same as SIOC.” So if your ASINs were certified under SIOC, SIPP describes the certification you already have, and there’s no second program to enroll in and no new test to pass.

The rename hasn’t reached every Amazon page yet. The FAQ itself warns that you may still see FFP or SIOC terminology in program materials, and Amazon’s public vendor qualifications page still labels Tier 2 as “Ships in Own Container (SIOC),” while the vendor certification guidelines document is published under the SIPP name. You’ll see both names depending on which Amazon page you’re on, and that doesn’t mean your account is subject to two sets of rules.

Where it lives in Vendor Central

Enrollment, certification, and per-ASIN status tracking work exactly as described in the SIOC entry. Amazon’s FAQ treats vendors and FBA sellers as separate tracks for the program, so follow the vendor path and expect some of the program materials along the way to still say SIOC.

Why it matters to a vendor

Most of what ranks for “amazon sipp” is written for FBA sellers working in Seller Central. Those guides describe enrolling through Seller Central and frame the benefit as a per-unit discount on FBA fulfillment fees, but that mechanic belongs to the FBA fee structure, and a Vendor Central account selling to Amazon on POs has no FBA fulfillment fee to discount. When one of those guides quotes fee figures or Seller Central enrollment steps, read them as belonging to the seller track rather than yours.

If you came from Seller Central, the certification standard carries over, but the money works differently: for a vendor, packaging certification shows up in prep handling and compliance exposure, which the SIOC entry covers. When an internal process document, a packaging supplier, or an Amazon contact refers to SIPP, map it to the SIOC certification you already track for that ASIN instead of opening a second record.
