SoROOS (Sourceable Replenishable Out of Stock)

SoROOS (Sourceable Replenishable Out of Stock) is the Vendor Central metric for the share of an ASIN’s customer glance views that landed while the item was out of stock even though Amazon’s systems showed it could still be sourced and reordered from the vendor.

What it is

SoROOS follows the same glance-view pattern Vendor Central uses for its other out-of-stock percentages, so you read it the way you read Rep OOS: the glance views that hit an out-of-stock but sourceable ASIN, measured against every glance view that ASIN had in the period.

It’s easy to confuse with Rep OOS (Replenishable Out of Stock), and the difference is the “sourceable” condition. Rep OOS only asks whether the item is still replenishable, meaning it hasn’t been discontinued. SoROOS narrows that to glance views where Amazon’s own systems confirmed the item could be ordered and received from you at that moment.

So when a sourceable ASIN is out of stock anyway, the cause usually sits on Amazon’s side. The two causes the published definitions agree on are an Andon Cord hold, which suspends a single ASIN after customer complaints point to a defect, and a manual suppression by the buyer. A genuine inventory shortage can also contribute, but the metric exists to separate lost buyability from the ordinary stockout.

Where it lives in Vendor Central

SoROOS is reported in the Inventory report under Reports > Retail Analytics > Inventory, grouped with Vendor Confirmation Rate and Open Purchase Order Quantity. That’s the same screen the Purchase Order entry points to for open PO quantity. Why it matters to a vendor

The sourceable flag is Amazon telling you that a restock path was open. If an ASIN shows a high SoROOS figure while your confirmations and shipments are on time, look at Amazon’s suppression machinery before you touch your replenishment plan: check for an Andon Cord notice on that ASIN and ask your vendor manager whether a buyer hold is in place, because no amount of extra inventory will get a suppressed listing selling again.

Read the figure per ASIN and week over week. A single high week can reflect a short hold that has already cleared, but a figure that repeats across several weeks points to a standing suppression you’ll need to raise with Amazon directly.
